WENDAKE. La Place des Nations à l’intersection du boulevard Bastien et de la rue Racine

a désormais une nouvelle identité.

Rebaptisée place Onywahtehretsih, ce qui signifie « nos racines sont anciennes » en huron-wendat, le nouvel aménagement artistique « célèbre les racines les plus anciennes du pays en matérialisant dans l’espace public le mythe wendat de la Création », décrit-on. Il inclut, outre un plan d’eau et des végétaux, des bronzes représentants les animaux mythiques du récit, réalisés par l’artiste wendat-abénakise Christine Sioui Wawanoloath, de même que des bancs-sculptures de l’artiste wendat Ludovic Boney.

 

WENDAKE. Place des Nations at the intersection of Bastien Boulevard and Racine Street now has

a new identity.

Renamed Onywahtehretsih, which means “our roots are ancient” in Huron-Wendat, the new artistic development “celebrates the oldest roots of the country by materializing in the public

space the myth Wendat of Creation”, it is described. In addition to a body of water and plants,

bronzes represent the mythical animals of the story, made by Wendat-Abenaki artist Christine

Sioui Wawanoloath, as well as bench-sculptures by Wendat artist Ludovic Boney.
