Signatures

Quand j’étais jeune illustratrice, dans les années 1970, je signais mes dessins "Siouï" (1), puis "Seawe" (2). Plus tard, dans les années 1980, j’ai ajouté le nom de la famille de ma mère "Wawanoloath" à celui de la famille de mon père "Sioui". Durant des années je signais simplement "CSW" (3 et 4) suivi de l’année de création. Puis en 2005 j’ai inventé un monogramme avec ces trois lettres (5 et 6). Il y a une courbe pour C, suivi d'une ligne qui va vers la gauche, puis vers la droite formant ainsi le S et le W.

J’aime bien ajouter des petits idéogrammes à côté des ma signature; une tortue stylisée (7), une prière chamanique qui veut dire Nous prenons ce que tu nous donnes (8), ou encore un lièvre très stylisé (9). En 2009 j’avais créé un logo pour ma petite entreprise qui s’appelait IoSazaso (10). En 2015 j'ai donné de nouvelles orientations et j'ai changé le nom de mon entreprise l'appelant simplement par mon nom. Alors j’ai créé un tout nouveau monogramme-logo qui représente les trois lettres "CSW". Je l’aime bien car il me fait penser à un soleil levant et à la partie supérieure d’une tortue avec sa tête et ses deux pattes de devant. (11)

WHEN I was a young illustrator in the 1970s I signed my drawings "Siouï" (1), then "Seawe" (2). Later, in the 1980s, I added my mother’s family name "Wawanoloath" to my father’s family name "Sioui." For years I just signed "CSW" (3 and 4) followed by the year of creation. Then in 2005 I invented a monogram with these three letters (5 and 6). There is a curve for C, followed by a line going to the left, then to the right forming S and W.

I like to add small ideograms next to my signature; a stylized turtle (7), a shamanic prayer which means We take what you give us (8), or a highly stylized hare (9). In 2009 I created a logo for my little company called IoSazaso (10). In 2015 I gave new directions and I changed the name of my company by simply using my name. So I created a new logo monogram representing the three letters "CSW". I like it because it reminds me of a rising sun and the top of a turtle with its head and forepaws. (11)
